Curly girls- we get it. If you’re anything like us, you’re probably tired of the sometimes weird, sometimes invasive and oftentimes rude ways people approach you about your curly hair. Curly, natural hair is a part of who you are; unique, vibrant and wonderful! We’ve put together this list of the 5 things we are sick of hearing and therefore should no longer be said to girls with curls!
1: Is your hair real? Answer: Is that Birkin bag real? Whether you love your natural curls or hate ’em, this is a pretty personal and not to mention inappropriate question to ask anyone. It’s best just to smile and admire those curls from a distance!
2: How do you get your hair to look like that?
Answer: Girl! I woke up like this! While there are tons of DIYs and YouTube tutorials on how to make your naturally curly (or straight) hair pop, we are just lucky enough to be gifted with amazing coils.
3: OMG! Your hair is so wild!
Answer: I didn’t know curly hair could be anything other than hair? Our kinky hair isn’t really that different from the hair on your head; ours just has some killer texture and curls! It’s ok, be jealous. And no, you still can’t touch it.
4: Does your significant other like your curls?
Answer: Uh what? Don’t worry about our dating lives; us naturally curly girls are doing just fine.
5: Can I touch your curls?
Answer: Can I touch your baby? No? Ok. Back up off my curls! We never understand why people want to touch our curly hair and we’ll never stop thinking it’s one of the weirdest things someone can ask! Not only is it pretty unsanitary (because we don’t know where your hands have been!) but it’s also pretty invasive. We like our personal bubble as much as you do!
While we appreciate that people are curious about our naturally curly hair, we’d rather you spend your time asking us some more curl-friendly questions (and who knows, you might even learn something!)
