Once or twice a week, you’re going to have to wash your curls. This can be a time consuming task, so anything to help minimize this we’re all for. Having a good wash day routine can help keep your wash day routine to a minimum while getting the best out of your curls. Here’s the curly wash day routine to try. Give it a go and enjoy gorgeous curls all week long.
The Curly Wash Day Routine To Try
Prepoo:
Before washing, you need to prep your curls. Do this by coating your curls with an oil, such as olive or avocado. This will keep moisture locked in, and prevent your hair from being stripped during the wash process.
Cowash:
This is something you don’t need to do every time you wash your curls, but rather bi weekly. When you cowash, you’re using conditioner to cleanse your curls. This removes build up and excess dirt without stripping natural oils or moisture from your strands.
Shampoo:
On your off weeks from cowashing, switch it up with a gentle cleansing shampoo. Avoid anything that features sulfates, parabens, or artificial fragrances or alcohol. Any of these ingredients can be very damaging to your curls. Shampoo will remove excess build up, dirt, and other debris from your curls but can also dry strands out.
Conditioner:
After you shampoo, make sure you follow up with a water-based conditioner. Conditioner is necessary to reintroduce moisture to your curls following shampooing. Completely cover curls, and allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes. Every 4-6 weeks, you can put a protein treatment in to help protect and repair your conditioner.
Weekly, you can cover your curls with a deep conditioner. Once curls are covered, make sure you tuck your hair into a plastic cap, and sit for 60 minutes. You can also apply heat to allow the product to penetrate into your curls.
