When you’re researching and learning about your fine curls, it can seem as though most of the information out there is for those with thicker coils. That’s ok! We are here to help you figure out how to get the best out of your gorgeous, delicate strands! Here’s a great routine on styling your fine curls.
Cleansing:
Two or three times a week, cleanse your scalp with a gentle, sulfate free shampoo. Make sure to massage the product thoroughly into your scalp using your finger tips to break up any oil or sebum. Shampoo twice to ensure cleanliness and rinse all of the shampoo out of your curls. Use cool water to seal your cuticle back down and minimize frizz.
Conditioning:
Select a lightweight conditioner to avoid pulling your strands down. Apply conditioner to the ends of your curls and utilize the slip to detangle with a wide toothed comb or your fingers. After you’ve worked through all the knots, you can rinse out the product. Rinse from the scalp downward using cool water, which will help prevent more tangles.
Detangle:
Using a microfiber towel or an old t-shirt, gently squeeze excess water from your curls. Do not rub your strands, as this can tear and damage them. Section your curls out and then use a comb or your fingers to work through any remaining knots slowly and gently, never tugging or tearing.
Dry:
Apply a lightweight hold serum and a leave in conditioner before beginning to dry your curls. Arrange them how you’d like them to be when dry then allow them to air dry. Do not touch your curls until they’re completely dry. Once curls are completely dry, you can fluff them at your scalp to give some body or lift.
If you want more volume or don’t have time to wait for your hair to air dry, you can also use a diffuser. Work from the scalp through the ends, targeting one section at a time and allowing each area to fully dry before moving on.
