How To Perfect Your Curl Care Routine
Cut down on shampoo use:
It’s tempting to get a big, frothy lather every time you get in the shower, but this can be really harsh on your delicate curls. Instead of shampooing every day, try to limit the amount of time you use shampoos. Instead, opt for a dry shampoo and try to limit the amount of time you wash your curls. If you do need a refresh, you could try a low poo or a cowash instead for a less harsh way to cleanse your curls.
Always condition:
It can be tempting to skip the conditioner portion of your routine but your curls will definitely suffer. Conditioner is hugely important for the overall health and well being of your curls. As a result, you need to make sure you’re conditioning after every shampoo or cleansing session. Additionally, invest in a good quality leave-in conditioner to use after your shower and before styling. Finally, you’ll also need a great deep conditioning treatment, which should nbeused at least once a week to help strands retain their ultimate moisture.
Don’t be afraid to mix it up:
There are a lot of fabulous and not so fabulous curl care products out there. Once you find your favorites, don’t be afraid to mix it up. Mixing or cocktailing products is a great way to apply several different products to your strands, allowing them to work in tandem. Take a couple of products, such as a leave in conditioner and gel, then mix it together in the palm of your hand. Then, apply throughout your curls to make sure your strands are evenly covered.
Dry gently:
Finally, when it comes to drying your delicate curls, do it with care. Your strands are very susceptible to heat, so make sure you’re using a protecting spray before using your hair dryer. If you do choose to use a dryer, add a diffuser and use a low heat to keep your strands from becoming damaged. Additionally, upgrade your towel to a microfiber towel to protect your strands from being torn when drying your strands.
