However, these are the easy ways to keep your curls healthy. Check it out and let us know what you think!
Easy Ways To Keep Your Curls Healthy
Keep it simple:
When it comes to protective styling, simple is best! Utilize easy, simple protective styles to help keep your curls protected from the environment. These types of styles should be low manipulation, to avoid creating frizz or overly manipulating your curls. Buns, simple braids, and knots that aren’t too tight are good choices.
Spray regularly:
During the winter months especially, your curls will lose a lot of moisture due to the cold, dry air. Avoid this by carrying a mini spray bottle with you and spritzing your curls throughout the day as needed. If you notice things are getting a little dry or frizzy, give your curls a light mist with water. You can also add in fractionated coconut oil or essential oils to your liking for an extra boost.
Cover your curls:
Before heading outside or going to bed, considering covering your curls. The wind and cold weather can stress out strands. Invest in a satin lined cap to keep strands smooth before you head out. When it comes time to go to bed, you can cover your curls with a silk cap or bonnet. If you can’t stand sleeping with something on your head, consider pineappling your curls and laying your head down on a silk or satin pillowcase. Neither fabrics wick moisture away like cotton or jersey does.
Detangle correctly:
Knots are annoying, so it can be really tempting to pull or tear at those pesky snarls. Avoid doing that, as yanking can lead to breakage. Add detangling into your wash day routine, slather your strands, and detangle in the shower. Use a wide toothed comb or your fingers, avoiding brushes that can tear and damage strands.
