Figuring out how to keep your curly hair up and out of your face can be an annoying chore. We are constantly on the look out for styles that are easy to achieve and still look amazing. We’ve found the ultimate easy DIY style for type 3 curly hair, which can also double as a protective style. Before using this style, it’s important to moisturize your curls!
Curl pattern: Knowing your type of curly hair can help identify which looks will work best for you. Curl patterns are divided into types. Type 2 curls are more wavy, while type 3 has a more formed curl. Type 4 are kinky coils. If your curls fall under the type 3 category, then this updo is perfect for you.
Bantu Knot Frohawk: YouTuber Nia Knows Hair is going to show us how to achieve this flawless curly hair updo. For this look you’ll need a few things to create your updo.
- hair gel
- 3 strong hair ties
- bobby pins
- a soft brush
- a pick
- a large clip
To get started, take a section in the front, which will be left out. Secure with a clip so it doesn’t get mixed in. Using your hairgel, smooth down the curls on each side of your head. With the remainder of your hair, section your curls into three equal parts. Create a top, middle and back section, securing with your hair ties. Use your hairbrush and extra gel to smooth any flyaways as needed. Once you’re finished smoothing, remove the clip from the front section. Allow your curls to hang down over your forehead in their natural pattern. Using your bobby pins, pin your curls into place to eliminate gaps between your puffs. To finish your look, grab your pick to fluff your curls.
