When it comes to styling your curls, it’s easy to fall into a rut of the same old, same old. I know I have a few styles I fall back on for my third and fourth (ok, fifth, sixth and seventh) days, but while those tried and true looks are great, it can be fun to mix it up once in awhile with a new, fresh look. Here are a few great looks that you can give a try.
Curly twist: This look is super easy to achieve and adorable to wear! To get some volume in your second or third day curls, spray your roots with dry shampoo and add some leave in conditioner to your strands to help detangle. Divide your hair into three equal parts, tying them of on the back of your head into ponytails. Spread the base of the top ponytail and loop the ponytail through, pulling the curls all the way through. Repeat this all the way down, pulling all the curls with you so you create three twists. You can pin the bottom up to create a bun or leave it loose.
Twisty bun: This look can take you from the office, to the gym and then out to drinks with the girls. To get this look, divide your curls into three sections, two towards the front and one in the back. Tie the back section off into a low ponytail. Twist one of the remaining sections, and then secure it across the top of the ponytail with bobby pins. Repeat with the remaining section. Wrap the ends underneath the ponytail, and the roll the loose curls into a bun. Secure with bobby pins and hit it with a blast of hairspray to help hold it in place.
Daily Pineapple: We don’t always have time everyday to mess around with hairspray and bobby pins (trust me, curlies, we totally get you here). Those extra few minutes of sleep in the morning are precious but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice having a cute curl day! To get this look, start with second or third day curls. Hit your roots with some dry shampoo to absorb any excess oil, as well as to provide some volume. Once the shampoo is dry, work it into your roots to get rid of any residue. You might also want to use a curl refreshing spray or leave in conditioner on your strands to help them retain their shape. Once your curls are refreshed, flip your head upside down and shake them out. Gather your curls up on top of your head and create a loose bun. Secure with a cloth covered elastic and flip your head back. You should have a nice, poofy bun with an excess of curls to arrange how you like. You can pull some tendrils down to create a fun, playful look or tuck them back into the elastic for a more polished persona.
