When it comes to curls, easier is always better. This applies especially to hair styles. It’s easy to fall into a rut and do the same things day in and day out. Here are a few fresh, easy to style updos that will work great for our kinky, coily girls.

Crown Braid:

This style takes your everyday Dutch braid to the next level. To get this look, start with dry curls with product already applied. Create a deep part on whichever side you prefer. Begin braiding a thick, chunky braid across the wider side of the part and towards the back of your head. Loop the braid back around the crown of your head and continue braiding. Cross back over, braiding until you’ve reached the end. tie the end and wrap into a bun, securing with bobby pins.

Knotty Updo:

This style looks a lot more complicated than it actually is, so don’t let it scare you. Start with dry hair with styling cream already applied. Separate your strands at the back of your head, and cross them over one another, creating a gentle knot. Continue working down the back of your head, tucking the ends of the knots underneath the above knots. When you reach the bottom, tuck the ends in an bobby pin them into place. Super easy and super cute!

Twisted Updo:

If you’re trying to grow out your curls, consider this easy protective style. Begin by creating a side part. Take the smaller section and create a two twist strand. Divide the larger section of curls into 3-4 sections to create twists above your ear. Bring the twists back gently, careful not to pull them too hard. Pull the remaining hair back into a gentle twist. Secure the twist with pins and then tuck in the other side. This style will work well for both shorter and longer curls.
