Have you always dreamed of having Rapunzel length curls? Achieving your goal of having long curls can seem lofty and out of reach, but we assure you it’s not! While it does tend to take curly girls longer to grow curls, it isn’t impossible. Due to their coiled shape, curls often appear to take longer to grow. However, there are some tips you can follow to help you grow out the long curls you’ve always been pining for.
Diet:
The phrase “you are what you eat” applies to all areas of your life, including your curls. In order to grow long har, you need a healthy foundation. Achieve this by drinking lots of water, cutting back on your sweets and junk food intake, and swapping in more veggies, fruits and lean proteins.
Trims:
Schedule trims with your style for every 6-8 weeks. Allow it to go any longer and you run the risk of getting split ends, which will only slow down the growth of your hair as the ends break off. If you do choose to take the ill advised route of trimming your curls at home, don’t use regular old kitchen shears. Instead, use hair shears so you don’t damage your ends further and get a nice clean cut.
Sections:
Do everything with your curls in sections. This ensures that you’re getting each area properly cleansed, hydrated, and applying product evenly. It might take a little longer but it will be ultimately be worth it in the long run.
Massage:
In order for your hair to grow, you need to treat your scalp well. Do this by removing build up from your scalp with baking soda. Massage it into your scalp in slow, tight circles with your finger tips. Rinse with apple cider vinegar for an invigorating treatment. Massaging your scalp regularly will facilitate blood flow and help healthy strands grow.
