When you’re trying to grow out your curls, nothing is more irritating than sluggish growth. However, there are some things you can do to help encourage faster curl growth, starting a refreshing scalp scrub. Over time, build up on your scalp can block your pores, and cause circulation to slow down. When this happens, natural curl growth can slow down as well. Luckily, you can make even more scalp scrubs for increased curl growth right at home with ingredients you have on hand. Give your strands a kick start by refreshing your scalp, stimulating blood flow, and helping your follicles stay healthy.
Cinnamon:
Cinnamon is spicy, smells great, and also works really well to help facilitate growth in slugglish strands. Start by combing one tablespoon of baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix until it creates a thick paste, and then saturate your curls with warm water. Working section by section, massage the paste into your scalp using your finger tips. Allow it to sit for several minutes before rinsing it out with warm water.
Coconut:
It’s hardly a secret that coconut oil has been beloved by the naturally curly community for hundreds of years, and is a crucial ingredient in many curl products. However, this product isn’t for those with fine, thin strands. Coconut oil can be quite heavy, so if you have wavy hair, make sure you’re avoiding this oil or using it sparingly. Combine 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, (softened) with 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix until it creates a bit of a gritty paste. Then, completely saturate your curls with warm water. Massage it into your scalp using slow circles, and then rinse out.
These scalp scrubs are super easy, and can be adapted to your individual curl type, to make sure your strands are getting exactly what you need. Don’t be afraid to adjust the ingredients to make enough product, or if an ingredients doesn’t work for you, swap it for one that does.
