Winter is almost here and with it the cold, wind and drastic changes in temperature. Every day things like putting on and taking off hats can cause some serious issues for your curls, like dryness and frizz. We’ve put together a list of five awesome curl care tips to help you transition from fall to winter. Check out here for more tips and tricks.

Deep condition: Deep conditioning, especially in the harsh, dry winter months is critical for your curl care regime. Conditioner smooths down your cuticles to keep your curls happy and healthy, as well as reduces frizz by replacing moisture.

Try new oils: For curly haired girls who use oils, now is the time to experiment with new products. Your curls can build a resistance to products you’ve used for a long time. Switching it up and selecting an oil like avocado or coconut will give your curls the moisture they crave without making your scalp greasy.

Get a satin pillowcase: A satin pillowcase is the creme de la creme for curls, as it does not wick moisture away like cotton  pillowcases do. Your curls are also less likely to tangle after a night rest on a satin pillowcase.

Try a scarf: When you go outside, protect those curls! Try a stylish scarf or head wrap to keep your curls from over exposure to the elements. Scarves are in right now, so experiment with different styles and colors.

Ditch the wool: If you own a wool hat or scarf, toss it (or give it away). Wool can dry out your curls, or can catch on your strands, causing frizz and damage. If you have a wool hat you just can’t part with, consider having it lined with satin to avoid any harm to your curls.
