If you have curly hair, you know how difficult it can be to grow your hair long and keep it healthy. Many curly girls spend a lot of time and money on their curl care regiment, so it can be helpful to have some quick and easy tricks up your sleeves.
One of these great options is yogurt, which many of you might already have in your kitchens. Yogurt is great for your curls because it’s loaded with healthy fats and vitamins. It can help manage dandruff with its anti-fungal properties, helps curls maintain moisture so they stay frizz free for longer, helps minimize curl fall by keeping follicles healthy and helps balance the pH of your scalp.
How to use yogurt to help your curls grow:
Egg and Yogurt Mask:
Mix 1 large egg and two tablespoons of unflavored yogurt. Use a whisk to mix the egg and yogurt together. Apply evenly throughout damp curls. Cover your hair and allow the mixture to sit for 20-30 minutes. Rinse out with a mild shampoo and cool water.
Banana and Yogurt Mask:
Mash 1/2 ripe banana in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix together until smooth. Apply the smooth paste throughout your curls from roots to tip. Cover with a cap and allow to sit for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with shampoo and cool water.
Yogurt and Olive Oil Mask:
Mix 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and 1 tablespoon of unflavored yogurt in a bowl. Set it aside. Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 cups of water in a bottle. Wash your curls with a mild cleansing shampoo and squeeze out excess water. Apply the yogurt and olive oil mixture throughout your curls from mid-shaft to ends. Allow to sit for 20 minutes, covered with a cap or a towel. Rinse the mask out with cool water and then rinse your curls with the lemon water to help remove excess olive oil.
