If quarantine has you feeling a bit bummed, you’re not alone. A lot of us have been hanging out at home for the last few months, and it’s been easy to let some things slide by the wayside. However, your curl care doesn’t have to be one of those things. If you’re looking for something to do, consider making your own curl care products. These are leave in conditioners you can make at home. Give these a try, and let us know if you love them!
Leave In Conditioners You Can Make At Home
Liquid spray:
If you like something you spritz in your curls, this product will be for you. Additionally, you can make it with things you’ve got right at home. Take an empty, clean spray bottle and add 1/4 cup of your favorite conditioner, 5-10 drops of olive oil, and 2 cups of filtered water. You can add more water as necessary to get it a liquid consistency. Shake, and apply to freshly washed hair. This would also be great for refreshing your curls between wash days.
Cream:
This is great for hands on application. Melt 1/4 cup of raw shea butter in a double boiler, and add in 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Blend so the ingredients are fully incorporated together. Allow it to cool until it’s partially solidified, then transfer to a mixer. Blend in 1 teaspoon of jojoba or vitamin E oil, mixing until the mixture is fluffy. Finally, add in 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel. Store in a sealed jar in a cool, dry place.
Extra hydrating:
Sometimes you curls need a little TLC to look their best. When that happens, whip up a batch of this extra-hydrating leave in spray. In a spray bottle mix in 1 cup each of aloe vera juice, and coconut water. Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil or jojoba oil. If you’d like, you can add in some essential oils based upon your curl’s needs. Mix, and keep in the fridge. Shake it up before use.
