How To Use Witch Hazel On Your Curls
The benefits:
Witch hazel can be soothing to dry, distressed skin. Therefore, it makes a great natural transition over to your curl care routine. Some of the benefits of using witch hazel on your strands include:
- Frizz reduction
- Increased hair growth
- Smoothed strands
- Enhanced shine
What to do:
This product works great as a spray. Therefore, you’ll need to start with a spray bottle. Glass seems to work best to keep product fresh and lasts for the longest amount of time. Take 1/2 cup of distilled or filtered water and place in the bottle. Add in 1/4 cup witch hazel. Make sure to purchase one without alcohol, as this can be very drying to strands.
You can also choose to add some carrier or essential oils to this mixture. If you have thick, kinky coils, you might want to consider adding a carrier oil such as almond or jojoba. This will coat your strands and enhance moisture.
You could also consider adding different essential oils based upon your curl’s needs. For dryness, add lavender or chamomile. Rose water is also an excellent addition. You could also put in tea tree or peppermint to invigorate your strands and encourage growth.
Shake to completely mix all the ingredients together, and before use. Store in a cool place.
How to use:
After you’ve washed your strands and removed excess moisture, apply throughout your hair. Massage the product into your scalp. Make sure to evenly spray all your strands, and apply any other product you may use. Style as normal, and enjoy beautiful, healthy curls!
