How To Remedy An Itchy Scalp At Home
Coconut oil:

There are tons of benefits to incorporating this moisturizing oil into your curl care routine. Its antimicrobial properties are a great way to combat an itchy, distressed scalp. Warm some oil until it’s melted, and then allow it to cool. You can do this in a double boiler, or microwave. Apply throughout your hair, making sure to focus on your scalp. Use your finger tips to massage it into your scalp and allow the oil to sit for at least 30 minutes. Wash out with a gentle cleansing shampoo and follow with a moisturizing conditioner.

Tea tree oil:

While some sites recommend applying this oil directly to the scalp, it’s best to dilute it first. You can apply it by using a hot oil massage, like the coconut oil above, or another carrier oil. If your strands are fine or wavy, you might want to consider a lighter oil, such as almond or avocado. Apply 5-10 drops of the oil to 1/2 cup of your favorite carrier oil, warm, and apply by massaging directly into your scalp. The tea tree is antibacterial, so if you’re experiencing itch due to a fungus, it’ll help break it up, as well as any build up. As an added bonus, the tea tree massage will encourage blood flow to the scalp. This will help your strands grow faster and longer as well.

Apple cider vinegar:

If you want an all natural treatment, you can’t get much more natural than this. Apple cider vinegar has tons of uses, and taking care of your curls and scalp is one of them. To get the benefits of ACV, you can add 1 part of apple cider vinegar to 4 parts water. Adjust as necessary for your length and thickness of your curls. Wash your curls with your favorite shampoo, and rinse out with cool water. Then, apply the ACV throughout your strands, massaging into your scalp using your finger tips. After allowing the ACV mixture to sit on your scalp, and then after about 30 minutes you can rinse it out with cool water. Apply conditioner to your ends. The acidity of the ACV will remove build up or dandruff, allowing for a fresh, healthy scalp.
