Ingredients:

To get started, you’ll need one half cup of flaxseed. Unground works best here, and extra points if its organic. Non organic will work just fine as well. Then, you’ll need two cups of water. Yup, it’s really that simple!

What to do:

Place both cups of water in a small saucepan on the stove top, and bring to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, add in the flaxseeds. Lower the heat so the water is just simmering, and stir. Continue to allow the flaxseeds to simmer over a medium heat until the water begins to get frothy, and develop a foam on the top. After this, the consistency of the liquid will no longer be watery, and will instead become jelly-like.

Once the consistency is gel-like, remove from the heat. Use a strainer or a cheese cloth to strain out the to slough off into a bowl underneath. Stir the seeds around as necessary to push the gel out. Once all the gel is strained out, you can put it in a clean, empty squeeze bottle or jar. Congrats! You’ve made your very own curl care product.
