Yup, you read that title right. You can cleanse your scalp with salt, and we’re going to tell you how. If you’re not regularly cleansing your scalp, now is the time to start. Over time, curly scalps can begin gathering build up. This can be from product, excess oil, and pollution from the environment. When your scalp isn’t clean, it makes it difficult for your hair to grow, as your scalp can’t breathe. Clogged scalps don’t produce curls as easily as clean ones. Therefore, you should consider giving this very easy DIY recipe a try.
Cleanse your scalp with salt
_What you’ll need:
_Start by gathering these ingredients. You’ll need one cup of filtered water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of tea tree essential oils, and 1 tablespoon of clarifying shampoo. You should try to opt for one that’s sulfate free to keep from damaging your curls.
What to do:
In a small bowl, add all the ingredients and mix them together. It should create a thick paste, so you may need to start a little more slowly with the water and add more as needed. Then, gently separate and part your curls into 4-6 sections, and tie them off. Then, taking some paste on your fingertips, you’ll want to start carefully massaging it into your scalp. Carefully go through each section, making sure each section is covered. Release the sections as you go, and when your scalp is completely covered, you can continue massaging it all into your scalp.
After it’s been massaged into your scalp, you can then start gently pulling it down through your strands. After about 30 minutes, get into the shower and completely saturate your curls with warm water. Continue massaging your strands, and allow the water to rinse it through your strands. After, you can follow with a cold water rinse to soothe your scalp, and close down your cuticles.
