Have you ever searched the shelves of the store trying to find exactly the right deep conditioner for your curls? There are countless products available for curlies, much more than there used to be, and trying to find the right one for you can be exhausting. Some curlies strive to avoid any chemicals in their products, while others are looking for a bargain product that still delivers. If you’re looking for something that you can make at home that won’t break the bank, you’re in luck! Check out this recipe for an amazingly easy, DIY deep conditioner.
Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado
½ cup virgin olive oil
¼ cup melted shea butter
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
What to do:
Remove the avocado from the rind and place in a bowl. Mash with a spoon until it’s a smooth consistency. Using a hand mixer or blender, incorporate the olive oil, shea butter and ACV. Mix at a low speed until whipped smooth. Return to the dish and cover until ready to use. You’ll want to use this mask within 24 hours of making it to ensure its freshness. This is a great time to consider extra ingredients you might want to add, like essential oils or other moisturizing oils like almond or jojoba.
After cleansing or wetting your curls, apply the product throughout from roots to ends, making sure to pay special attention to the tips of your curls. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and allow the mixture to sit for a minimum of 30 minutes or longer. You can also apply heat to allow your cuticles to open and the moisture to penetrate the cortex of your hair. Once you’re done, rinse your curls completely with cool water, style and go!
