More and more people are beginning to think about what they put on their bodies, and in the environment. Since more people are looking for for low or zero waste products, one of the obvious choices is to make it yourself. If you’re thinking about getting more eco-conscious, you’re in the right place. Try this DIY, zero waste flaxseed gel .
What you’ll need:
This recipe is ridiculously easy, and you might even have some of the ingredients right at home.
2 tablespoons whole flaxseeds
1 cup filtered water
2-4 drops of your favorite essential oil. Lavender, bergamot, and lemon are great choices.
That’s it! Now, let’s get started.
In a small sauce pan, bring the water to a rolling boil. Add in the flaxseeds, and continue to stir constantly so they don’t burn. After about four to five minutes, remove the sauce pan from the heat. Strain the gel from the flaxseeds using a fine mesh strainer.
Then, strain again using a tea infuser. You want a fine, tight mesh so as to remove as much of the flaxseeds as possible. Do this quickly, so the mixture is still in its liquid form. Add in your essential oils, and stir. That’s it! Place the mixture into a jar, and place in a cool place. Use the gel as you would your regular curl gel.
