As curly hair is becoming more widely accepted by mainstream culture, most companies are rushing to product products for natural hair. Recently, the “most influential hairstylist in the world” Jen Atkins was asked which hair trend she liked least. Her reply? “Cheesy, spiral curls.” Well, we know our curls and coils aren’t anywhere close to being a trend, much less cheesy but we figured we’d give her products the benefit of the doubt anyway.
Jen’s curly hair products have been released through her hair care product company, Quai. Jen polled her clients via her company’s Facebook to find out what they wanted in their products and then took those suggestions into account. The Curl Shampoo and Conditioner promises to offer hydration and clarification to natural curls. While the Curl Shampoo does not have any sulfates, parabens or phthalates. While the Curl Conditioner does not have sulfates or parabens, it does contain Amodimethicone and Polysilicone which can build up on curls and be difficult to remove.
The price point is also somewhat high for these products, coming in around $26-28 for 8-10 oz bottles. However, if you’d like to give the products a try without making the commitment, you could consider purchasing the TSA approved travel sizes once they become available. It’s nice to see a top stylist like Jen expanding her product market to reach a wider variety of hair styles and always nice to have another choice when it comes to products for our curly hair.
