Make Your Own Luxurious Curl Cream
What you’ll need:
1/2 cup raw, organic shea butter, melted
1/4 cup fresh aloe vera gel or juice
1/2 tablespoon raw, organic honey
10-15 drops essential oils, such as peppermint, tea tree, lavender, lemon, or bergamot
What to do:
Melt the shea butter and cool slight, so it’s no longer hot. In a bowl, blend the shea butter, aloe vera, honey, and essential oils, using a hand mixer. The mixture should be completely smooth with all the ingredients well incorporated. Scoop into a resealable jar and store in a cool place until it’s time to use the cream.
How to use it:
Now for the fun part. Apply this cream to freshly washed curls. Make sure to apply from mid shaft down, paying extra attention to dry areas. Each curl should be covered with the product. In this case, the prayer method can be useful to achieve an even application. Allow the curl cream to sit on your curls for up to an hour. If curls are particularly dry or damaged, cover with a plastic shower cap and a warm towel. Allow the mixture to sit on curls overnight. In the morning, shampoo off with a gentle cleanser and follow up with a conditioner. You can also choose to use this mixture as a styling cream, and apply a smaller amount throughout the ends of the curls for a moisturizing control.
