Step one: ditch the towel
To get started on this method, you need to ditch your terry cloth towel and grab an old t-shirt instead. Carefully squeeze excess water out of your curls, while scrunching upwards. This will help you curls begin to take shape.
Step two: detangle
After removing excess water, grab a bottle of your favorite leave in conditioner, and thoroughly spritz it throughout your strands. Remember, you want to cover your curls but not saturate them. Once covered, take your fingers or a wide toothed comb to work the product through.
Step three: add product
Mousses are a great way to get hold and definition without dragging down your strands. Add a quarter to half dollar sized amount of product to your hands. Rub your hands together to emulsify the product, and then begin applying it throughout your curls, make sure to pause and scrunch as you go, moving upwards. Flip your curls over and repeat, so all your strands will get covered. Follow this up by spritzing a heat protecting spray throughout your strands to ensure your curls will be safe when you diffuse.
Step four: diffuse
Turn on your hair dryer with the diffuser attachment to the lowest heat setting. Flip your strands over, and begin drying section by section. Don’t move until each section is completely dry, and work methodically across your head so all the areas would be covered. Once your curls are totally dry, allow them to sit until cooled. Then, fluff your curls a bit and enjoy big, bouncy hair!
